I have to admit I love all things Disney.  My husband and I love to go to Disney World, and went more times than we care to admit before having kids.  For us there is just something “magical” about being at Disney.  What many people don’t know is that Disney is so much more than just “Mickey and Minnie.”  There is a whole program called “Run Disney” with races that range from 5k’s to full marathons.  Matt and I flew down to Disney for a long weekend and participated in the Expedition Everest Challenge 5k one year and it was so much fun!  The race took place inside the Animal Kingdom park after closing and some of the rides were open to participants after it concluded.  We hope to eventually participate in the Epcot Wine & Dine Half Marathon, and I think it would be fun to do the Princess Half Marathon as well.

Angi is married to Brad and they have two sons, Austin and Braden.  In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding and camping, and is also an active assistant with the Clinch Valley Youth Group.  The family attends Clinch Valley American Christian Church in Thorn Hill.

Beyond the resume:

As my sister & I were growing up we had competitions to see who could be the best news broadcaster. We had a video camera our dad bought when they first came out in the 80’s. We thought we were so grown up, so much so that we would take videos of each other reporting the news, weather & anything else we could make up. I always wanted to be the first on camera. We would even count down 5,4,3,2,1 that way we got the whole live experience. What’s extremely comical about this is, to this day, I hate to be in the spotlight. I could never do an oral book report in school & when all eyes are on me I buckle under pressure. I will be glad to talk to you one on one, as you will see if you ever stop by the office. I love to talk, sometimes a little too much, as I’m sure my coworkers would agree. I think that may be why they chose me to operate the front desk & the 7 busy phone lines of our office. I look forward to chatting with you soon.

Beyond the resume:

I have been told a book can be written about all the different things I’ve done in my young life. Since I was about 8 years old, I wanted to serve in the military like my Father and Grandfather. I joined the Army August 30th, 2001, just before 9/11. I served twelve years and several them included deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan. I was an expert wheeled and track mechanic, recovery specialist, combat engineer, route clearance expert, combat life saver, and designated marksman; among many other talents, traits and specialties. Because of all my cross-training, knowledge, experience and situations in Afghanistan, a one-star General in knew my first name and I find this to be one of my greatest accomplishments. I’ve worked in just about every trade, and travelled most of the US by interstate and highways. I’ve seen a lot of Europe and the Middle East and have unofficially crossed into China and Iran. I love to, and have built, many different things with my hands; whether it is carpentry or metal fabrication. I enjoy all the aspects of reloading my own ammunition for hunting; the weights, coefficients, and little details. Wisdom I’ve learned along the way includes: music and the ability to laugh no matter the situation is essential to living life; and importance of putting the people that surround you before yourself. I find East Tennessee to be where my heart is despite all my travels and experiences. If I were to choose a place to live outside of this region, I’d choose either Ireland or Germany mainly because I love the food, countryside and people there.

Beyond the resume:

There is a saying…”be kind to everyone because we know not their struggles”…and everyone has them.  Not long ago, I saw a meme on the internet…it said something like “My daily struggle is between keeping friends and suppressing the urge to correct their typos…”  That’s me!  It’s sometimes painful to not have the ability to read anything without mentally editing!  Grammar and spelling mistakes are EVERYWHERE!  It’s not just emails or handwritten notes…published books, magazines, and newspapers are not exempt!  So many needed edits….so little time.  As I get older, I am learning control…  J

Beyond the resume:

When I chose my profession I did not even consider the fact that tax season would interfere with “March Madness.”  I enjoy watching college basketball games and especially the NCAA Tournament.  My favorite team is the University of Kentucky Wildcats.  Having been born and raised in Kentucky I naturally became a fan.  I have since toured the SEC, living in Arkansas, Georgia and Tennessee.  I had no desire to become an Arkansas Razorback, nor a Georgia Bulldog, and even though I have called Tennessee home for twenty-seven years I am not a Volunteer (except during football season).  My loyalty has been and always will be with Kentucky.  My blood will never “run orange,” it will always run blue. Go Cats!
